All IMPORTANT CARD.To Tfit Voters of Clay cocntt:—It is a well known fact that there is al-waj’s in the hands and under the con-■tiol of the Treasurer of the county, large sums of money belonging to the ditferent public funds, and it is and always has been customary for the Treasurer to place these funds iu Bank until required by law to be disbursed. On these funds considerable suras of interest accrue, which is paid by the banker to the officer, and in this county, I believe, the Treasurer has always appropriated such interest to his own private uses. In some cases it may have been used for electioneering purposes. This is improper, and being in favor of practical reform, I hereby pledge myself to the people that all interests which may accrue on any of the funds which may come into m3' hands, if elected, shall be faithfully paid over to its proper fund and attach and belong to such funds. In good conscience it belongs there. Let us have reform.George Rector.August 1st, 1876.
