SCHULENBURG Prussice acid poisoning of livestock has added to the worries of farmers in this sec tion, according to Dr. R. G. Gwen, veterinary, who did the poisoning is the result of the dreath. Four milk cows in this area died last week after grazing an breath stricken supplementary pasture. Sudan, hegira, cane and Johson grass are the worst offenders, ac cording to the veterinary. Patches which have been mowed off or grazed down and which have start ed to grow back are the most dan gerous, he declared. “The cow might die anywhere from five minutes to an hour after she has grazed i It depends on the condition of the pasture. I've seen cows topple over before they are 20 yards into a patch,”’ Dr. Owen said. “If the animal's heart is still beating when a veterinarian reach es her he can save her,” the doc tor went on to explain. Drs. Calvin Wallace, W. W. Green and C. R. Tubbs, local veterinari ans, said Monday they have had quite a few similar cases in DeWitt county during recent months.
