Furman, pioneer Nebraska, Kansas newspaperman and photographer, will be here Monday.Mr. Furman, who died Thursday night at the age of B3, had lived here for nearly 00 years.He was born in 1069 in Mc-hoopany, Pa-, moving to Kansas with his parents when he was 15. An early interest in photography developed into a pioneer liorse and buggy business venture as he travelled throughout the area taking sod house family and rural group pictures.After his marriage to Mattie Ann Van Pelt in 1892, Mr. Furman started the Danbury News. He later edited the Marion .Enterprise which eventually became the South Side Sentinel, serving all towns of southern Red Willow County.The paper closed during the depression and Mr. Furman moved to Danbury, where he aided his son in the local post office until an illness developed last winter.An avid student of Nebraska history. Mr. Furman had recorded a number of episodes with the Nebraska Historical Society in Lincoln.Surviving are two sons, Charles of Danbury arid Donald of MeCook; daughters, Lucile and Bess Furman Armstrong of Washington, D.
