When he reached Grant Tohill’s residence he aroused them and Grant Taylor was notified.Air. Taylor and others proceeded to the scene of action hut the robbers had taken iliglit. It is thought theyleft town in an automobile, the tracks of one being clearly visible near the station, but it is suggt sted that they might have left on a freight train which, it is said, was passing through at the time of their departure.Air. Taylor notified Sheriff Parker at Robinson, who came down immediately. He looked over the situation and gave as his opinion that it was the work of amateurs. No clews have as yet been discovered. The robbers “borrowed” tools at Daugherty’s blacksmith shop and also from C. L. Johnson’s. They gained entrance to the bank by prying open th’e window on the south side. They first attempted to dig a hole in the bricks on the north side Hut finally delided on the south and a hole large enough for aman to enter was dug through the doublebrick wall of the vault. A wooden •case with papers, old pass books, etc., in it was sitting against 'the wall where the hole was made and this was upset and the contents scattered over the floor. This was lucky for the bank, as they covered up some bags of silver which came in yesterday which the robbers might as well have had as not. A few dollars on the change tray were taken and also a box belonging to the postofllce which contained about a thousand dollars worth of stanmps and some money orders. The hank will suffer considerable inconvenience of having to straighten up the mass of papers which were scattered around and have the vault repaired, but outside of that no damage was done. Not even one safety deposit box was touched as far as can be seen. -Although the bank suffered 'but little loss, Air. Taylor tells us even if it had been greater no one would have lost a penny, because all loss
