VTHURSDAY, July 27In tbe Senate yesterday, numerous private bills from th'e House were considered and ai r*few passed. The Civil nnd Diplomatic Appropriation bill was taken up and various amendments offered, some of which were adopted.— In tho House Mr. Letcher was refused leave to introduce a bill to Vepenl the Minnesota Land bill which had been frudulently altered. The Naval Appropriation bill was taken up, and Mr. Sollers offered an amendmeut, which, however, was ruled out of order, providing that the seamen and non-commishioncd officers of tbe navy shall be composed of none♦..but native-born citizens. -Mr-Sollers then gave notice of his intention to offer similar amendments to tho bill reorganizing the Army and Na«y. Tbe House-concurred in the temperance amendment offered by Gerritt Smith, and adopted in Committee of the Whole. Subsequently, however, the amendment wib reconsidered and rejected/ Other amepdraents were offered and adopted, and tbe bill passed finally. Tho Senate bill increasing tbo’pny of the army was considered, but no notion had.A man named Jayne, living at Nashville, put o keg of powder under bis house on Tuesday-night, and blew it and himself to atoms. The flames from the explosion burned four adjoining buildings. The Cholera at Cincinnati is -on the increase. A Railroad accident on tho Richmond Ohio railroad, has caused tbe death of an engineer and the wounding of a fireman. lt;3ur Washington correspondent telegraphs to tis that the Administration, i's negotiating for tbe annexation not only of Russian America, but Vancouver’s Island and other British possessions, -The project for a prolongation of the 8P88ion of Congress has been abandoned. A daughter of ex President Fillmore died yesterday, at Aurorn,.of dysentery. The mortality in tbe Buffalo poorhouse still continues, and one of the Overseers of the Poor haa fallen a victim to cholera contracted the™.
