A bridal shower in honor of Miss Sherill Cernan was given by Mrs. J. A. Casey and Mrs W. G. Simpkins at the latter's home. Miss Cernan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Cernan, will be married to Lloyd Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Paul Allen of Centralia, August 21 at the First Baptist Church. Upon entering the Simpkin's living room, the guests placed their gifts on a large table with the centerpiece being an opened white organdy umbrella. A flow er garden which consisted of deep green Zinias, white hy drangeas, white petunias, white daisies and English ivy entwin ed with these flowers trailed up the umbrella handle. At the top of the umbrella, a white net ar rangement of ice cubes furnish ed a shower of rain for the gar den during the evening's enter tainment. A salad course was served at three tables covered with white linen cloths with silver and white candles placed in beds of ivy At each place setting was a green umbrella, place-card-tally and white mint cups filled with white and green pillow mints. Bridge was played during which time lime ice cream punch was served by the hostes ses. At each game, the winner was privileged to go to a mar ket and select a gift from a large basket of wrapped pack ages. These gifts were present ed to the bride-to-be. Prizes were awarded to Mes dames Graham Powell, J. H. Barrow, David Allen, and C. N Carter. The door prize went to Mrs. William Hall. Miss Cernan was presented with an imported cigarette ash tray set for the guest prize. The only out of town guest attend ing was Miss Jayne Barrow of Shawneetown, granddaughter of Mrs. J. H. Barrow.
