Well done!—The Globe has undertaken to control the election for representatives to the Legislature, in the adjoining county of Franklin, by publsih-ing one of the basest and most foul slanders upon the character of the Rev. James Conwel), that could be concocted by'the ingenuity of men wholly destitute of principles or morality. Has it come to this, that a man's moral and religious character is to be made a sacrifice of upon the altar of party strife, by men whose business it is to slander the people and the people's candidates? Is a man to bo charged with desecrating the holy sanctuary, for political effect? Who is the GJobe'ajnformant? Some meau, low, servile, groveling minion of power—some petty post master who wishes to render some dirty service to his party and bring himself into notice and perpetuate bis name in the party annals, on the secret slandering list of the Globe office, even if he had to do it as did the ancientrincendiary who burnt the Tcmplo—by destroying the reputation of some honest man. The Globe has as yet failed to give the author, They cannot effect the moral and religious character of Mr. Con we 11.
