Funeral arrangements are pend ing with Memories Chapel Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330. MARTIN: Clarence Earl Martin of Strathclair, Manitoba, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family, at the Hamiota Health Centre, on Friday, April 26, 2002, at the age of 72 years. Left to mourn his passing are wife, Reva; sons Calvin (Jayne) of Winnipeg, Blaine (Trinda) of Strathclair and two granddaugh ters Charity and Britney of Strathclair; two sisters, Sybil Haw of Victoria, British Colum bia, Loretta (Joseph) Wear of Courtenay, British Columbia. He was predeceased by his pa rents George and Oretta Martin of Strathclair, his brother Wil bert Martin of Brandon and sis ter Muriel Marshall of Calgary. Clarence was born September 12, 1929 in Strathclair where he lived all his life. He farmed and raised Clydesdale horses. Clar ence married Reva Deves on November 22, 1951. Clarence was a very active member of his community and of the heavy horse industry. He held positions on numerous boards and com mittees and had served as a director of the Strathclair Agri cultural Society since 1948. He was given an Honorary Direc tors Award from the Manitoba Association of Agricultural So cieties in November of 1997 in recognition of his contribution to agriculture and community service. A funeral service was held Tuesday, April 30, 2002 from Strathclair United Church with Reverend Bob Hunter offi ciating. Interment followed in the Strathclair Municipal Ceme tery. Active pallbearers were: Ross Deveson, Ernie Leitch, Barry Elliott, Shawn Wilson, Doug Cooke and Dana Stim pson. Honorary pallbearers were: Roy Gamey, Gordon Mackie, Sandy Rothine, Merv and Gayleen Stimpson, Les and Shirley Cummins, and Pat Pollock. In lieu of flowers, con tributions may be made to the Strathclair United Church Me morial Fund or to Cancer Care Manitoba. Rae’s Funeral service was in care of arrangements.
