Boiler Explosion Hurls Man Up but He Catches on Belt NOCONA, Texas, April 30.β€”Al though Lemon Manley, a derrick man, was blown 75 feet in the air when a boiler exploded near here, he was caught by a belt at the peak of his flight and suffered only minor injuries. Other workmen nearby also escaped serious hurts The explosion of the boiler oc curred at midnight Thursday, at Ed Bell No. 1 wildcat oil well, six miles southeast of Nocona. The well is being drilled by the Ven tex Oil company, an English con cern with headquarters at Nocona. The boiler was thrown about 100 feet by the force of the blast. Earl Paschal, firing the boiler suffered mainly from surprise when the blast occurred. Joe Strader, a driller, and Ray Phil lips, another workman, were near.
