PIONEER MILL MAN VICTIM OF HEART ATTACKFrancis Breest Stricken Early Monday at Home in Wausau Section; Funeral Tuesday Evening.Francis Breest, 05 years old, veteran sawmill man and pioneer citizen of Laurel, died suddenly at his home in the Wausau section about 3 o'clock Monday morning. Members of his family heard him struggling in his bed and found him dying, the victim of a heart attack. The end came before medical aid could be summoned.Funeral services will be held at the family residence at 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. John W. Mangum, pastor of Grace Lutheran church, officiating. Burial will be In Lake Park cemetery with the Masonic lodge in charge.Mr. Breest was born in Hamburg, Germany, and came to the United States in 1883 when a boy of fourteen years. He had been employed by the Wausau Lumber company in Arborvita, Wis., prior to coming to Laurel in 1911 as chief engineer for the Wausau-Southern Lumber company. He was connected with the Wausau here for twenty-three years.During his residence in Laurel Mr. Breest was always active in every movement for the advancement of the community. He was a member of Laurel Lodge No. 414, F. and A. M., and served that lodge as secretary for fourteen years. He was a member of the Maccabees and was for many years a leader in the Woodmen of the World.Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Emma Breest, and five children: Mrs. Martha Sandman, Cohay; Fred r.ccst, Bend, Oregon; Miss Irene Breest, Laurel; Francis Breest, Jr., Laurel, and Mrs. Gwendolyn Deane, Laurel; and a number of grandchildren.--o---SAVED: 200 COPPERSTROY, N.
