Food and clothing were cheaper, and crime hadenormously diminished (bear, hear), Much, uo doubt, might yet remain to bo done; but one thingmight fairly be said—that in no previous period of the country's history of similar duration had so much material progress been made, and he was sure that no similar period could show a nobler reign (cheers).
