Smith.Amid the attractiveness and enjoyment of the Ocmulgee Cbatau-qua, and the merriment and pleasures incident to such an occasion, Hawkinsville wassuddenlj- thrown into a gloom of sadness last Sunday night, by the announcement of the sad death of Mrs. Willow Smith, wife of our fellow townsman, Mr. J. A. Smith.Mrs. Smith breathed her last while the town was plunged in the darkness of the night, at the home of her mother, Mrs. S. I. Bell.Mrs. Smith has for several years been a sufferer of Consumption, and the care and anxiety occasioned by the recent serious illness of her husband almost brought her to death’s door.Mr. Smith only a few weeks ago carried her to Hawkinsville, where under treatment of an experienced physician, surrounded by friends and loved ones, it was thought she would improve or recover. The dread destroyer, however, had done its work too well, and death has claimed the companion of husband whose grief is almost unbearable.May he who rules in mercy apply the balm of consolation to the bleeding hearts, and uphold them in their sorrow. The remains were interred at Hawkinsville yesterday afternoon.Smith Rome ’ Dormi: Miss L with IV Alice I Miss Dublin visitin Dormi about Last met at Rev O favorelt; with a: Frid day, ai at Frgraveswho ha the scl: ed tc f the da^ Drs. recentcollegeMessborougAssaulted A White Girl.H.
