Mary Margaret M. Corell PEARISBURG, Va. — Mary Margaret Munsey Corell, 80, of Pearisburg, died Monday ata Pulaski, Va.,ospital. Born at Bane, Va., she was a daughter of the late William T. and Blanche Burton Munsey. She was a retired employee of the Hoechst-Celanese Corp. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kezel Paul Corell and one daughter, Laura C. Freeman. Survivors: son, Paul Jackson Corell of Pearisburg; daughters, Margaret Brotherton of Pearis burg and Sarah Trout of Flint, Mich.; brother, W.T. Munsey of Pearisburg; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Margaret Wood Johnston officiating, and burial at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearis burg. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Jonathan Tracy Thomas PRINCETON — Jonathan Tracy Thomas, 16, of Route 6, Box 572 (Ingleside Road), Prince ton, died Monday at a Princeton hospital. Born in Bluefield, he was a son of James T. (Butch) Sawyers of Bluefield (Brushfork) and Clara E. Thomas of Princeton. He was a 10th grade student at Princeton High School and a member of the Pentecostal Holi ness Church in Bluefield. He was preceded in death by his pa ternal grandparents, Harvey Lee and Rachel Sawyers. Additional survivors: sister, Jessica Blankenship of Prince ton; brother, Christopher Blan kenship of Princeton; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Holden of Bluefield; ma tern, great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Williams of Bluefield. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pentecostal Ho liness Church in Bluefield with the Rev. H.L. Rogers and the Rev. Tony Reed officiating, and burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Princeton. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Mercer Funeral Home in Bluefield. James A. Belcher RAYSAL — James A. Belcher, 67, of Raysal, died Monday at a Charleston medical center. Born in Bradshaw, he was a son of the late James Elbert and Sarah Rowe Belcher. He was a retired miner, a member of the UMWA Local 1509, Vansant, Va., and affiliated with the Holi ness Church. He was preceded in death by three half brothers. Survivors: wife, Mabel Keene Belcher; sons, Sgt. David Lee Belcher and Arthur Allen Belcher, both of Logan, James Rufus Belcher of Bristol, Va., and Orval Ray Belcher of Raysal; daughters, Mrs. Gary (Betty Sue) Horne of Jolo, Mrs. Hubert (Mar garet Marie) Blevins of Raysal and Mrs. Jessie (Barbara Ann) Davis of High Point, N.C.; half sister, Millie Hamon of Masson lion, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Old Country Church in Raysal with the Rev. Booker Riffe and the Rev. Fred die Dobbs officiating, and burial at the Puckett Cemetery, Paddle Fork, near Raysal. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at the church. Fanning Funeral Home in Jae ger is in charge of arrangements. Charles R. Johnson SALTVILLE, Va. — Charles R. Johnson, 96, of Saltville, died Monday at Montvale, Va. He was a member of the Tum bling Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors: sons, Claude W. Johnson of Portsmouth, Ohio, Thomas H. Johnson of Ports mouth, Va., Edward R. Johnson, Rev. Samuel C. Johnson and Douglas M. Johnson, all of Saltville and Harold D. Johnson of Chilhowie, Va.; daughters, An nie P. Davis of Montvale, with whom he made his home, Lydia V. Davis of North Tazewell, Va., Betty J. Ashley of Glade Spring, Va., and Louise J. Norris of Roanoke, Va.; brother, Clyde Johnson of St. Paul, Va.; sister, Mrs. John W. Health of Clinch burg, Va.; 38 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Tumbling Creek Primitive Baptist Church with the Elders Billy Cook and Eddie Lyle officiating, and burial at the Mount Rose Cemetery. William (Bill) Durm Tipton WALLSCREEK — William (Bill) Durm Tipton, 78, of Wallscreek, died Monday at a Bluefield hos pital. Born in Carlyle, Ky., he was a son of the late Thomas and Ellen Minton Tipton. He was a retired miner having worked in the coal mines for 50 years, last em ployed with Pocahontas Fuel Co., and was a member of the UMWA at Hartwell. He had been a resident of the West Virginia area most of his life and was a member of the Dry Fork Assem bly of God Church. He was a vet eran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by one son, Lester Tipton; two brothers, Worley (Doc) Tipton and Robert Lee Tipton, and two sisters, Nel lie Patterson and Miranda Hawkins. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Carrie Ednaress Tipton; daughters, Ms. Billie Jean Gillespie of the home and Ms. Shirley Jean Keat ing of Chicago, Ill.; stepdaughter, Ms. Dollie Mae Carico of Hopewell, Va.; stepson, Glen Ju nior Hess of Honaker, Va.; sister, Mrs. Gertrude Bandy of Wallscreek; grandchildren, Tami Osborne and Le Osborne, who made their home with him; five additional grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, three great grandchildren and 14 step great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hartwell Church of God Church at Hartwell with the Rev. L.H. Griffith and the Rev. Jack Puckett officiating, and burial at the Hartwell Ceme tery at Hartwell. Members of the Barnes-Bea vers VFW Post 7136 of Tazewell, Va., will conduct military grave side rites. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the church where a ser vice will be held at 7 p.m. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va., is in charge of arrangements. Frank L. Smith LINDSIDE — Frank L. Smith, 85, of Lindside died Monday at a Pearisburg, V. hospital. Born in Sommers County, he was a son of the late Oscar and Elmira Fleshman Smith. He was a retired employee of the Ho echst-Delanese Corp., with over 26 years of service and was a member of the Cashmere Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hallie McGhee Smith, one daughter, Shirley Ann Smith, and three brothers and three sisters. Survivors: son, Orville Lee Smith of Cashmere; daughters, Mrs. Ethelene Reed of Pulaski, Va., Marilyn Phillips of Boone, N.C., Lena Brookman and Mildred Thomas, both of Peter stown and Ruth Terry of Gap Mills; sisters, Mae Newman of Blue Ridge, Va., and Arbelle Dil lon of Hinton; 22 grandchildren and 12 grandchildren. The oral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Broyles Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown with the Rev. John Offenberger offici ating, and burial at the Bradley Cemetery at Lindside.
