The Barbe Bucs took an easy victory over Lake Charles High School while Sulphur edged out the Lady Bucs in the Region 1 AAAA Tennis tournament at the Lake Charles High tennis courts Thursday. Barbe finished the tour nament with seven points, LCHS with three, Sulphur with two, DeRidder with one, and LaGrange with one. In the girls division Sulphur won with five points, Barbe finished with four, DeRidder two, LaGrange two, and LCHS one. Logan Pruitt represented Barbe in the singled com petition, taking a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Craig Nunez of Sulphur. In the doubles matches David Gregory and Eric Hoenes also of Barbe took an easy victory over Timothy Calhoun and Lou Ropp of DeRidder, and then marched on to topple Remy Guillory and Skip Duplechain 6- 2, 1-6, 64 in the finals. Sulphur’s girls were led by Dian Raybon and Johanna Ihli. Both took commanding vic tories in the singles semifinals and then met each other in the finals with Raybon taking a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Ihli.
