A.P.) had conducted a search in heavy fog all day Tuesday before locating the downed plane at about 2:30 p.m. With the aid of an emergency aircraft finder, the C.A. P. located the proximity of the plane from the air.The pilot of the plane had left Oklahoma City without filing a flight plan, according to the Civil Air Patrol, hampering in the search, along with the fog.C.A. P. ground crews, aided by Elbert County Sheriff George Yarnell and Simla Marshall Craig Orr located the plane in a field southeast of Simla.The plane,was found on it's top approximately 500 yards from the point of initial impact. Parts of the plane were round on top of a ridge, according to a spokesman for the C.A. P.Three persons, two male and one female, were pronounced dead at the scene by the El Paso County Coroner.C.A. P. ground crews turned the aircraft over to remove the three bodies after information was transmitted that the F. A. A. could not get to the scene that day.Occupants of the aircraft were identified as the pilot,Jim Byrd, 35, Gary Bartlett, 36, and his daughter Terri Bartlett, 15, all of Colorado Springs.The aircraft had traveled through about 306 n’r of *'v before the fatal crash, according to Craig Orr, one of the first to arrive at the scene.It is speculated that the plane was flying low and crash ed into the hill located on Lewis PerriH's place.May 3rd Is Precinct
