They Were Old Timers HereNorten Wagenseller, an-old pioneer of this community, died at Redding, Cal., and the remains were brought to this city for interment. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church and were under the auspices of the Ukiah Gom-mandery No. 33, K. T,, of which the deceased was an honored member.N. Wagenseller was born in Pennsylvania, Feb, 21, 1827, and was 83 years, 2 months and 4 days old at the time of his death. He came to California in the early days and settled here in Ukiah when it was a very small village. He was connected with the progress and' prosperity of the town for many years. Thirty years ago all of the residence portion of town now known as Ukiah precinct No. 3 was Wagenseder's orchard.By and by the land was subdivided and sold for residence properties. For the past twelve or fifteen years Mr. Wagenseller has not enjoyed the best of health, and every summer he and Sam Paxton would take an old camp wagon and travel over the northern part of the state, camping where ever night overtook them. Some few months ago Mr. Wagenseller went up to Redding to spend the remainder of his days with his nephew, C. W. Leininger, regis- 1 trar of the land office there. It was while there that the old pioneer passed away.
