Dillon paid a pleasant visit to the home of Mr. and Mrs. F.C. Peterson. The Peterson and Dillon families were formerly neigh bors in Encino. A meeting was held at the Chamber of Commerce last night for the purpose of discussing the formation of an irrigation district in the Mimbres Valley. Among farmers attending were Albert Ernst, Carl Trubee, John Krill, Joe Remondini, Dennis Rutland, E.E. Baker, E.W. Bauman, W.O. Hendrix, John Kelly, Thad Risser. Fred Hassman, G.1D Hatfield. GW. Harris and Kenneth Freeman. Mr. and Mrs. Will Graham returned Saturday from a month's visit with Mrs. Graham's parents. Dr. and Mrs. RF. Stovall. st Mimbres Hot Springs. Homer Graham, who has been in charge of the Park hotel during the ab sence of his brother, Will, returned to his home in Hillsboro Tuesday. 25 YEARS AGO The Deming Headlight May 2, 1952 Coaches Tiny Perkins and Joe Stell and manager Freddie Perkins left for Albuquerque Thursday with an eight man squad to compete in the state high school track and field meet and in tennis. They are Ben Benton, Doug Madiock, Rosendo Villa, Jimmy Parra, Eloy Leyba and Ronnie Simmons. Also, Tommy Card and Jerry Schurtz will compete in the tennis meet. Liza Baker of the fifth grade came out on top in the spelling bee held at Smith school Wednesday. In second place was Martha Siegling, a fourth grader. Judges were Mrs. Ruby Browder, Mrs. Julia Caleote and Jerry Ryan. Ben Benton was elected student body president of Deming High School in an election held Thursday. Elected vice president was Eddy Jacobs 10 YEARS AGO The Deming Headlight April 27, 1967 Former Texas congressman Ed Foreman of Las Cruces addressed an audience of 120 Friday night at the first annual banquet of the Luna County Republican Women’s Club. He is married to the former Barbara Southard, a one time Deming resident. Mrs. Mary Brooks has been named Gifl of the Year by Epsilon Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi. Chamber of Commerce directors Monday endorsed the proposed Hooker Dam north of Silver City.
