Mr McGaugh said that “rather than teaching subject matter, we are teaching pupils.” He hasten ed to explain that subject mat ter is taught, but that each teacher realizes that he or she must begin with the ability and advancement of the individual pupil. Each teacher follows a flexible schedule of instruction, remem bering that the needs of the pupils must come first and fore most. Yes, the past 42 years have cer tainly seen great strides made in our local school. It enjoys a fine reputation among elemen tary schools in Orange County— and, indeed, the Southland. Seal Beach citizens have reason to be proud of their school and of the fact that their children have the opportunity of attending this in stitution.
