Ml,,. When it was found that il would be I necessary to perforin an operation, the doctor took his wife to the Hotel Dien pi private hospital conducted by the Sisters' of Charityk where |»r. Sims, a celebrated physician. i»erfornied the operation. Everything jKissihle was done but it soon liecame apparent that Mrs. Fanning could not recover, ami shortly befoie her death she told her husband to write to her aged parents, giving them her love and to convey the sad news. The letter, written by the bereaved husband, and which hears every evidence of great sorrow, arrived last Tuesday afternoon, li was a severe blow to Mr. ami Mrs. Long, who had had no intimation lt;: their daughter s illness, and t lie aged couple is almost broken In artcd.
