LA CROSSE — The setting of two new school records high lighted Xavier's appearance in the La Crosse Invitational Re lays Saturday. The host school won the meet, with 47% points. St. Cloud Cathedral of Minne sota finished second. The school records were set in the two-mile relay and the ‘discus. ' Kevin Lally, Mark Wolfgram, ‘Tom Oates and Dick Koller ‘combined for a time of 8:39 int o the two-mile event to take a fifth place and break the school mark of 8:44. Senior Bill Pfefferle broke his jown discus record with a toss of 1145 feet to take a second in that event. His old record was 141 feet. The Hawks also took a fifth in the 30-yard high hurdles shuttle relay. The race was won with a time of 49.6. Ed Wenning, Tom Van Susteren and Steve Hardy combined for a 52.2 timing Mike Lawleff of La Crosse ,turned in another meet highlight swith a 4:18 time in the mile. 'Lawless ran anchoring the distance medley.
