Struck a Boom.—Sunday afternoon Pan Handle west bound passenger No. i struck a derrick boom inside of tunnel No. 1, at Bloomfield, and sustained considerable damage to two coaches. In a sense the affair was fortunate inasmuch as a very bad accident was unexplainably averted. The derrick is used in hoisting heavy stones to the tunnel roof. The boom, or crane, was extended across the track No. S was running on and struck the engine smoke stack. It was forced to I one side but swung around immediately and crushed in the front end of the baggage car, it swung around again and came Back the seeODd time and caught the front end of the coach following the smoker. This car ^as damaged moie than either of the others. The accident caused connid-erable consternation among the passengers, but no delay. I
