A FATAL ACCIDENT.David Anthony Struck by a Railroad Train and Dies fromHis Injuries. t)From Thursday's DailyA sad and fatal accident occ urred this I t( forenoon near Snake Creek bridge on j w the Jacksonville Southeastern railroad. 1 ** David Anthony, section foreman, and j ^ three section men named John J. Cinto, al Henry Fearnandez and Joseph Baptist, j ^ were going north on a hand car and J y were just in the act of rounding a sharp , 01 curve when they discovered the local ! X' freight bound from Havana to Litchfield j ciose upon them. The four men jumped 1 ^ from the car and Anthony called to his clt; assistants to help lift it from the track, ^ which they proceeded to do, but the un er fortunate foreman was not quick enough et in his movements and the engine struck him in the back of the head, crushing his skull and knocking him several feet distant from the track. The train came to a halt and Anthony was picked up and placed in the caboose and brought to Jacksonville. He was unconscious, but did not cease to breathe until the train arrived in the yards here. The body w’as at once borne to the home of his stricken family, near the Lafayette avenue crossing, and the coroner notified of the accident. He came to America during the late war and had been in the employ of the J. j S-E. company for many years. He was a sober, hard working man and possessed ! the kindliest esteem of all who knew inl him. He is survived by his wife aud tei five children, the oldest of whom is a j c*’ son aged 16 years. The bereaved ones j at:' deserve the sincerest sympathy of the entire community. The coroner’s inquest is being held this afternoon.Mr. Anthony was a member of Prosperity lodge 114, A. O. U.
