br. William J. Woodlin, colored physician of Columbus, is in the city prison in Columbus facing a charge at manslaugter preferred against him as a result of the killing of little seven-year-old Herbert Hazelwood, son of Mr and Mrs . M. Hazelwood formerly of this city, and who, it will be recalled, were married in public in the opera house in this city The lad was near the entrance of Neil Park on his way to the ball game, and Woodlin came dashing down the street at great speed, strik ing the lad with his machine and killing him almost just antil Wood lin’s machine skidded 229 feet before he could bring it to a stop, indicat ing the terrific speed he was traveling When the child was struck Woodlin claims that the bow was to blame, because he’ dashed across the street in front of his machine, and that he tried to prevent the ma chine striking the lad The dead child's mother is a daugh ter of Flijah Stein
