iSST'The Columbus (Ohio) Journal sa3rs: “Lambdin P, Milligan, one of the Indiana conspirators, when released from confinement in the Ohio Penitentiary, was disposed to be very nice in closing up accounts ,v h the institution.. After the order came for his release and the Warden paid over to him the amount of money in Iiis hands belonging to him (Milligan,) he refused to receipt for the money, on the ground that such receipt would be a recognition of the usurpation, and de.-clared that the money was illegally detained. .So he gave a receipt for money illegally held by the Warden. It is a wonder that he did not insist on being hung, rather than recognize the President’; commutation of sen-• *V.f »*«.• •«* •tence.”
