Program Of Chamber Music To Be Finale Of Lectures-Concerts SeriesFour members* of the New York Chamber Soloists, uu ensemble that specializes in performing rarely heard compositions, will present a concert Thursday.Their performance in Colton Chapel at 8 p.m. will be the last of five concerts offered this year by the Lectures - Concerts Series.The program will feature selections by Beethoven, Britten, Ravel nnd Mozart. The musicians will be Melvin Kaplan, oboist; Geruld Turack, violinist; Ynez Lynch, violist; and Alexander Kouguell, cellist.Established in 1957, the eleven-member New York Chamber Soloists forms various ensembles for the performance of music ranging from early baroquethrough contemporary and featuring various combinations of instruments.Touring CompanyThe entire group has participated in two F.uropean tours, and more than a dozen composition* have been written specifically for the New York Chamber Soloist* by American composers Gunther Schuller, Henry Brant, Easley Blackwood and Mel Powell.The group’s 19RJ tour concluded with n private concert performed in the palace at Monaco for Prince Rainier and Princess Grace and their invited guests.Members of the New York Chamber Soloists who will not appear in the program here in-* (.1,1.1, A (Inin \ .1,11-,, *also os a recitalist in New England and in Europe.Kougucll is a native of Russia and studied in Paris with Charles Munch, Pierre Fournier and Nadia Boulanger. He was professor of music and languages at the American University in Beirut before joining the faculty of the music department ut Queens College.Other concerts in this year s series have featured Rcy de la Torre, classical guitarist; Beveridge Webster, pianist; Carolyn Stanford, mezzo soprano; and Die Wiener Solisten, chamber orchestra.The Lectures-Conccrts Series aluo brought nctor Bramwell Fletcher to the campus. Fletcher performed a selection of prose and poetry readings.
