In honor of National Kindergarten Week, the Federal Art Project is show ing a selection of prints and drawings of particular appeal for children in the Lending Gallery at the main Berkeley Public Library. The Chil dren's Exhibition will be on view un til the end of the month, and includes work from both Northern and South ern California artists. Featured are several of a series of Childen of All Nations by Miss Evelyn Renfrew of Los Angeles— Portuguese Girl,” “Dancer of Kashmiri,” “Turkish Girl,” and others. Also several of the decorative and fantastic animals and fish of George Goethke whose work has been proving so popular with juv enile patrons of the Art Project’s Print Lending Gallery. There will also be a representative selection from the hand colored litho graph series of California wild flowers by Alberto Spratt. This series has re cently been included in a circulating exhibit which will tour the outlying districts of the State, bringing many a small rural iscool its first glimpse of real, original art. Among the other prints being shown in the Berkeley Children's Exhibition are: “Donkey Course” by Lilian Bond, “Small Girl’ by Hebe Daum, and a “Girl's Head” by Jack Moxom, who painted the lovely children’s fresco in the Library of Frederic Burk Training School of San Francisco State College. The Federal Art Project Lending Gallery, where the Children’s Exhiition s being held, has been in existence only a little over a month, during which time interest has been so great that the original stock of 150 litho graphic prints has had to be aug mented twice.. In spite of an almost complete lack of fanfare and local publicity, the demand for prints, to be borrowed for a month at a time on a Berkeley library card, has been steadily increasing. With other East Bay Libraries clamoring for a similar gallery, it begins to look as though the demand for this unique and ex perimental service would soon outrun the supply.
