Mrs. W. W. Downey has been quite ill for the past week, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. King motored to Terre’ Haute Tues day, Jerry Moffet, type of the Dana News was in town Friday and Saturday. Mrs. James Frakes is on the sick list and has been very poor ly for the past week. Frank Lee and family motored to Terre Haute Sunday and spent the day with relatives. Tom Smith, the genial land lord of the Dana hotel paid a visit to the old town Saturday. Mrs. Bennett of Terre Haute was here Tuesday looking after the renting of the old hotel pro perty. Biff McGill, wife and child of Vermillion county were over Tuesday seeing old friends and relatives. F. A. Stebbins and family motored to Waveland Sunday afternoon and reports the roads in fine shape. Mrs. James A. Church of Sioux Falls, South Dakota is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Machin and other relatives. The invitations are out for the graduation exercises of the M. H. S. for May 1st. There are seven graduates for this year. Born to Mr. and Mrs. John Hudson a son,on Monday. John SAYS Ib is a cracker-jack and will help hint plow corn this summer. Miss Daisy D. Moore of Mc Mullen, Mo. is visiting at the home of F. M. Moore. Miss Moore has been teaching at Jud son. Oscar Norman, of the Sugar Creek neighborhood was in town Tuesday. Os says that he finish ed sowwing oats before breakfast that morning. John W. Dyson, at one time a resident of this place died at his home in ‘Terre Haute last week and was buried at Rockville last Thursday afternoon. Sunday was a fine day for the authorst and many took advantage of the weather to get out and view the damage done by the flood at different points. Muzzle that dog! The State Board of Health has sent ‘out warning for all dogs to be muzzled or they are liable to be killed by the authorities. H. C. Vestal.and family and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Arn motor ed to Terre Haute Sunday eve ning and viewed the havoc done by the recent tornado and flood. Everybody is fishing. The high waters have brought plenty of fish up and the pools in the bottoms are full of them. Many have been caught weighing up to twenty pounds, and when it comes to $ to 1 pounds there are thousands of them. Fred Starky, 29, a machinist. of Montezuma and Miss Nellié Hughes, 21, of Newport, a daugh ter of ‘Austin B. “Hughes,and wife, _were massed last. Saturday Mrs. Fred Murphy left Satur day for Decatur, Ltd. Miss Lorena McCune is home from Indianapolis for a visit. A. Connor made a business trip to Terre Haute Saturday, red Barneby is sporting a new five passenger Ford touring car. Gordon Kay spent Sunday with his brother, Arthur at Hammond, fr. Mr.and Mrs Elva Marshall of near Rockville were Sunday guests of relatives. Mr.’‘and Mrs. O. B. Price con template moving back to town and renting the farm. The Friday Club met with Mrs. Roy Aikman last week and will meet with Mrs. Dr Dooley this week. We received a communication this week from Francis Rodgers of Cayuga but owing to lack of space do not publish it. Mesdames Arthur Machin, Will Wright, Fred Shalley and James A. Church visited Mrs. John Featherston, east of town Wednesday. Rev. and Mrs. A. S. Wariner of Rockville and Rev. and Mrs. A C. Northrup of Williamsport were visitors at the home of Rev. Hicks Tuesday afternoon. A. Connor handed us quite a lengthy article this week, but owing to lack of space and lates ness of receipt of fame we do not publish it this week. James Quinlan contemplates buying a touring car in the near future. Jim is amply able to afford a car and it is a wonder that he had not bought one long ago. ‘tom Vestal, of Coloma an employee of the Marion Brick Works had the misfortune to have an arm caught in one of the elevators and find it broken just above the wrist, A. J. Haworth and wife are moving to Decatur, Dl. where Mr. Haworth has accepted a position of taking charge of Small fruit farm and summer home of L. W. Cook. Mr. Ha worth having been born and reared he is a worthy citizen and we wish him success. Frank Lee, superintendent of the light plant put a crew to work last Saturday putting in the new poles and rebuilding the line across the bottom. About 4000 feet of wire had to be bought as that amount was lost in the flood. They expect to have everything in readiness by the first of the week. Elmer Harshbarger, operator at Melchor has been transferred to the position of agent for the same company at Camargo, Il. His new job. pays a much better salary although the hours are longer. His wife left for a visit with her parents at Garrett, I., Wednesday morning and wills stay there until they can procure a house to move to. Mrs. Arthur Powell returned home Saturday, after spending the winter in Rockville, looking after the financial end of ‘the Lyric Theatre. She left Miss Jewell Baker i in charge and will make a.trip two or ‘three: times tenth to, are 'that everything is sthly. 8
