Fourteen Street Car Loads of School, Children Enjoy Themselves. ‘The school children of Des Moines are ‘taking advantage of the fine weather today and are celebrating Arbor day at Greenwood park in a regal manner. They have all decamped to the woods. While no sypecial program has been prepared by the schools because of the time spent in commemorating Wash ington’s birthday, yet the day could not pass by without ceremony. Fourteen street carloads of children went to different portions of the city today to celebrate Arbor day as follows: Three carloads from Grant, three from Bremer, two from Carey and two from Webster, to Greenwood park. Three carloads of children from Li ncos school rode out to Oak Park to spend the day. Thereseadhoo ols of the scholars of the st Side schools rode out to the fair, if winds today where they are having the pental field day. This is one of the most important events that occu each year on the East Side of the river and is very largely attended. The Hamilton society of Crocker school will board the street cars tomor row and spend the day at Greenwood park. The street cars were all gaily deco rated with the national colors and when boarded by the merry school children presented a sight that pleased the eyes of all.
