Some farmers are somewhat uueasy about the chinch bugs again, as they are quite numerous in some pieces of wheat.A great many potatoes have been planted around here this spring; also large . patches of onions have been sown.Hr. Brewer has been confined to-his house for some time with the rheumatism.Geo. Northrop has been working us a section hand 011 the Oarbomlale railroad, but is off on a strike *at presentOkas. Hoskiu has gone into the business of bottoming chairs and has been kept quite busy this spring.Mr. Carson Wicks has sold his store in Lawrence and has moved on the farm and become a hayseed once more. We are glad to have him with us again.Mr. J. W. Pugh and wife are back from California on a visit.Mr. Clarence Wicks and wife expect to leave next week for Washington Territory. They intend staying through the summer.The young people of the two churches have united in a Young People’s meeting every Sabbath evening, alternately between the two churches. Quite an interest is taken and we trust a, great deal of good has been accomplished already.Parents have taken a warning from the sad accident, of a few weeks ago. and there has been quite a thinning out of old pistols and revolvers from among the boys. °liev. W. B. Stevenson, the new Methodist preacher, lias moved into the parsonage, and is ready for the year’s work.Mr. S. B.
