miracis urowu(By Associated Press)NEW ORLEANS, April 23.—New Orleans turned out in droves today to clamber aboard the Russian freighter Kim, the Soviet government’s bulky emissary of good will, which docked here yesterday.Flaunting the red flag of Russia and the stars and stripes of the United States, the Kim, under the command of Captain August Upmal, reached here after an enthusiastic welcome in New York. She will take on a cotton cargo for Leningrad.oChancery Court is Convened on Monday Morn’gChancellor A, B. Amis and the court stenographer, Miss Betty Hosey, are in Laurel for the regular session of Chancery Court, which began what appeared to be a two weeks* session Monday morning. The early hours were spent calling and setting tfce docket. Some cases were set for as far advanced Wednesday of nex* week. A large number of divorce cases are scheduled to be heard during the present term.Little Thames Baby is Laid to Rest on SundayNeta Ruth Thames, baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Lonnie Thames of Laurel, died at a local hospitalSaturday night at 9:10 o’clock after an illness of only a few days.She is survived by her parents, two brothers, Maurice and Marzel; and a number of other relatives.Funeral services and interment took place at Fair Ridge cemetery, near Stringer, Sunday afternoon.CARD OF THANKSWe wish to extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to relatives, neighbors, friends and especially the employes of the Masonite Corporation for sympathy and kindness shown us during the death of our dear husband and father, Mr. Clifton Wood, who departed this life on Tuesday, April 17, 1934.
