Marion Smith, aged 55, is dead in Rockcastle. Mrs. Anne Wainscott, aged 89 is dead at Richmond. Homer Wagner, a popular young man of Burgin, is dead. Mrs. James D. Naylor died suddenly at her home near Lancaster. Mrs. Rutha Simpson Bell, relict of John Bell, is dead in Wayne county. Julia V. Simpson has been appointed postmaster at Worley, Whitley county. In Clark county, James Morton shot Fount Rose twice through the head, killing him instantly. Mrs. Martha Lewis, the aged mother of County Attorney S. D. Lewis, of Rockcastle, is dead. Central University, Danville, defeat ed State College 4 to 2 in a game of baseball at Lexington Saturday. John W. Yerkes spoke at Danville against municipal ownership, in an address before the law department of Central University. Mrs. Anderson, the aged mother of Mrs. Thomas Arnold, of Garrard, was seriously burned by her clothes catching from an open grate. Mrs. D. P. Bethurum is dead in Rock castle. She was the mother of Judge L. W. Bethurum, of the Rockcastle county court, and Hon. B. J. Bethurum, of Somerset. A large barn belonging to James P. Nave, eight miles east of Lancaster, was destroyed by fire. Three valuable horses perished. Farming implements and about one hundred barrels of corn were destroyed. The cause of the fire is unknown. Miss Bessie McDowell, youngest dau ghter of Col. Nicholas McDowell, Sr., has been appointed as a Special Maid of Honor for the United Confederate Veterans from the State of Kentucky for the coming Reunion at Richmond, Va.—Danville News. Incorporation articles of the Somerset Fair Company have expired and the company has been dissolved. The Odd Fellows Lodge of Somerset has just closed a contract for a lease of the fair grounds, and the county fair will be held under the auspices of this lodge this year.
