Library now beingerected on the corner of Shattuck avenue ami Kittridge street, was lafd Monday morning in the presence of the architect, Robert Greig, and' the workmen. All that distinguished itfrom the laying of any of the other stones was the placing of Greig’s business card under the stone, upon which was carved “Erected MCMIV.” The. very simplicity of the scene was impressive. The customary pomp and formality of laying the cornerstone was given up by the Library Trustees on account of the delay caused in getting the stone from the quarry. Now that several carloads of stone have been received on the ground, work will immediately begin on the first story and will be rushed through. Skilled masons started work todayputting the finishing touches on the stones and tomorrow the first masonry ..work-.will, commence, R. is.the-intern tion of the Trustees to h,ave the building completed as soon as possible in the fall. •T U 11U ... ___S11 i____
