Huron College freshman Craig Rink carded an 18-hole total of 72 to earn medalist honors in a quadrangular golf meet Thursday at Meadowbrook Golf Course a meet won by Dakota State College. Dakota State turned in a four-man total of 332 for team honors, followed by Huron with 362, USC-Springfield 366 and Dakota Wesleyan University 416. Doug Richards of Dakota State was runner-up in the race for medalist honors with a 38-40-78. Also helping Dakota State to the win were Mark Budahl with an 81, Jody Boline 86 and Todd Zeller 87. Rink toured the course for a 37 on the first nine holes and then lowered his score to 35 the second time around for a 72 total, just two over par. Rounding out the Huron group were Andy Williamson 49-45-94, Bill Boggess 49-46-95, John Blanchard 53-48-101 and Steve Paulson 58-60-118. Allen Fast had an 85 to be low man for USC-Springfield with Dave Minogna turning in a 94 for low honors on the DWU squad. The meet was Huron’s first of the season.
