Special to The Herald, ALAMITOS BAY, April 21.—Fishing is extra good just nowhere, both from the ocean pier and the bay pier. Some fish are also being caught from boats in the bay. The two and one-half miles of un finished speedway is being surfaced with six inches of soil, preparatory to the oiling, all of which will require about six weeks. When this fine drive way is completed it will furnish a smooth and continuous speedway from Long Beach to this place, and vehicles can go by way of the wide, sandy beach at low tide and return at high tide on the speedway, or vice versa. One of the 5000-foot waterways of West Naples is within a few feet of completion, and the monster dredger will make the turn into the other waterway next week. The two water ways, including the turn, which is in the shape of a horseshoe, will make three miles of the finest straightaway racing course on the Pacific coast. The moonlight boating season, which is so popular a feature of this place during every summer, has already commenced several parties during the week having taken advantage of the bright evenings to come for a sail on the bay. A special car literally crammed with a pleasure party came down this af ternoon for a sail on the bay. They will dine at the Channel club house, after which a moonlight sail will be in dulged in and dancing until midnight will complete the day's enjoyment. Prof. Richard Boone, whose residence is on the ocean front, has returned from a four weeks' lecture tour through Oregon and Washington. ae
