neeaeu.On the morning of Good Friday the pioneer citizen of Ainsworth, G. 13. Wright, passed away. His remains were taken to Now Westminster for Interment, accompanied by his widow and son. The services were held at the home on Friday evening by Rev.W. J. Inglis, the Presbyterian missionary stationed here. The funeral procession took place naxt morning to meet the steamer Kokance. The cas-kcot was carried, from the house to the wharf by six pall-bearers, viz: Chas. Olson, Alex McLeod, Chus. Taylor,.loy Holland, W. B. Drunuuond and W. P. Freeman. Deep sympathy is felt for the sorrowing family, Mrs. Wright and son are expected, back the early part of next week, G. 13. Wright was a native of Vermont and was horn six tv-Vseven years ago, but spent the greaterpart of his life west of the Rocky mountains. In tho year 1846, when the California gold excitement broke but, he crossed the plains and engaged in placer mining at Marysville, California, since which time he had a varied career. In 18(H) ho followed tho gold excitement to Cariboo and was one of the contractors on the old Cariboo wagon road. For several years he opr erated a steamer on the Fraser river anu was engaged in mining, freighting and trading at Barkervilie, Llllooet and Quesnelle mouth. He was through the Cassiar gold excitement of 1870. In 1878 he went into the salmon canning business on the Fraser, but was burnt out in 1881. Ho afterwards went into business as a contractor on the Onder-dnnk section of the O. P. R. between Uevolstoko and Shuswap lake. He also built several wagon roads under contract for tho Provincial government. Ho has been in tho Kootenay district continuously since 1886, locating lirst at Illecillewaet and afterwards at Ainsworth where be engaged in mining and commercial operations up to the time of his death.
