Sunday is ‘Clean-Up Day’ Sunday, April 23, will be a **Clean- Up Day” in Mahaska. Workers are asked to meet at 1 p.m. There will be a wiener roast in the Mahaska City Park following the clean-up for the workers. The rain date is to be April 30 The last card party of the season for the Hopewell Card Club was held at the Mahaska Community Center on April 14. Winning high prizes were Bertha Compton and Guy Spradling; low, Bernice and Luther Goebel; and traveling, Bertha Compton and Luther Goebel. Others present were Bessie Spradling, Paul and Laura Compton and Wayne and Maxine Rose The birthday dinner was held at the meal site on April 14. Those pres ent having April birthdays were Dale Pressnall of Belleville, Vern Rhinehart of Hubbell, Mary Kane of Narka and Ruth Flagle of Mahaska Willis and Mildred Davenport had an April anniversary. Dinners were sent to Bessie Ellis and June Rolen of Mahaska and Ross Cornwell of Haddam. On April 8 Paul and Laura Comp ton, Dwain Compton and Bertha Compton attended the wedding of Terri Green and Michael Hadock at the Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, Neb. Terri was a great-granddaugh ter of Marie Shoebotham, Donald and Ruth Flagle and Harold and Wilda Smith attended a potluck family dinner at the Legion Hall in Morrowville, Kan., on April 16 honoring the 50th wedding anni versary of Earl and Leota Moore. Garnett Brandt and Alice McIn tosh of Fairbury were Saturday guests of Calvin and June Slater. Friday, April 28, meat loaf, mashed pota toes, wax beans, cranberry-pine apple salad, bread, milk, tea or cof fee, pie. Glenn and Linda Hamilton of Wa mego spent the weekend with Orville and Anna Hamilton. Mr. and Mrs. Marlow Huber and grandson, Justin of Hebron, were Sunday visitors of Calvin and June Slater. On Sunday Guy and Bessie Sprad ling had dinner with John and Maude Brouse at the Heritage in Fairbury in observance of John’s 96th birthday. Others present were Mabel Wells, Peggy Carlson, Kevin Carlson, Eunice Sofar, Godfrey Chladek, Betty Wonderly and Pat and Allen Jensen. Birthday cakes, one depicting a farm scene, and ice cream were enjoyed in the after noon. Honored with shower , supper and a family wedding shower were held for Doug Edwards and Kitty Harrison at the Mahaska Community Center on April 15. Those present were Veda Simmons of Narka, Ida Mae Mason of Narka, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lane of Inde pendence, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fikar and Lisa of Wilber, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Simmons and John, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Edwards and Ashley, Jim Edwards, Larry Huffman and Susan Singleton of Narka, Danny, Chris and Shawn Vail of DeWitt, Neb., Doug Edwards, Kitty Harrison and Justin Harrison of Jewell, Kan. and Rick Simmons of Beloit, Kan.
