Captain John W.W. Snyder, who died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dudley Whitcomb, in Groesbeck, was buried at Georgetown Sunday afternoon. Captain Snyder was born in Yazoo County, Mississippi, in 1836, and came to Texas and to Williamson County in 1855, since which time he was a resident of this place until about three years ago, he has spent the time with his children. Captain Snyder with his brothers, Dudley ,and Tom Snyder, was in the live stock business in Texas many years, accumulating a large fortune. In the early days of Southwestern University, they made large donations of time and money to that institution, and its prosperity and success during its earlier years was largely due to their work and influence. He is survived by his wife and several children, Mrs. Charles A. Wilcox of Austin, Mrs. Whitcomb of Groesbeck, Frank Snyder of Port Royal, ‘Charles Snyder of Arizona, also one brother, ‘Om Snyder of New Mexico. Funeral ser vices were held at the home of Mrs. Snyder’s sister and bro ther-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Magee, conducted by Dr. John Barcus, the Rev. Sam Barcus of Austin, Dr. Sessions of Southwestern University and the Rev. Williams of George town.
