BIG SALE OF4LAND.Holdings of Richard Sykes of Manchester in the State Sold to LandBuyers. SThe sale o£ nearly 00,000 acres of land, the balance of the holdings of Richard Sykes of Manchester, England, is reported, the sale having been made through William Dwyer of Medina, who was in the city yesterday. Mr. Sykes has been one of the heaviest private owners of land in the state, and has for some time been disposing of his interests. The sale through Mr. Dwyer Is one of the largest private transactions ever made in the state, involving the sale of 59,000 acres, much of it Improved land. Of the amount sold, 20.000 acres was In Wells county, 15,000 acres In LaMourcf county and the Imlance In .Stutsman county. The consideration Is stated is said to have been something like a quarter of a million, and the purchasers were Minnesota land buyers.The sales of land in the state this year have been larger than at any time since the early booin days and the buyers are shrewd business men who see that the tide of immigration Is turning to the state and that good farm lands will be in demand and will bring good prices.
