The Story of an Affair at CharlestownNeck Last Night.Excitement ran high at Charlestown Neck about 9 o'clock last night, and two young men were lodged in cells at Station 15, having been arrested on thfecharge of highway robbery. t They are William J. Sullivan, 21 years old, living with his parents at 26 Sewall's court, and Peter McGinnis, 18 years old,of 1 Gilbert avenue.William Baker of 463 Rutherford avenue was their victim, and he was waylaid and relieved of his gold filled watch and chain, valued at *40. In company with his brother-in-law, E. Plneo, he wasreturning from work on the Boston Maine railroad. They started from the hay sheds on Rutherford avenue in the direction of Prison’ Point. At the foot of Baldwin street a young man met them. They had not proceeded far when the stranger appeared with two others. They j set upon the two men. but Pineo broke away from them and ran towards Alain | street for a policeman, lhe three menoverpowered Baker.In their haste to secure the watch andbe off they tore the left half of his vest i from his person and started on the run. They separated when they reached Baldwin street. Two of them ran up Baldwin 1 street to Main, to Allen and back to ! Rutherford avenue, Baker pursuing them! all the while.Sullivan lost ground, and when he reached the Lowell crossing on Ruther-I ford avenue there was a crowd of hood-• lums around. Sullivan turned and asked ! his pursuer If it was his intention to rob j him. and immediately started on the run again.| Baker picked up a strip of bark and threw It around Sullivan's head, and hauled him to the crossing on Rutherford avenue. The gate tender ran for an 1 officer, and soon returned with Patrolman Gillon. When he arrived, Patrolmen | Mullen and Neal, who were out In citizens' clothes looking for corner loafers, were present. Sullivan was placed under I arrestIn the crowd that gathered the victim of the robbery Identified one of the num-I ber as one of his assailants. When McGinnis, for so he proved to be, saw that he was the object of so much attention, he started on the run down the railroad track, but was overhauled by PatrolmanMullen.Thev were taken to the station house.Sullivan and McGinnis will come up for trial In the District Court this morning.
