PlanTransferKIVAElectro InvestorsIApplication was filed today at the Federal Communications Commission in Washington for transfer of all of the common stock ofValley Telecasting Company, owner and operator of KIVA, Channel 11, from Harry C. Butcher, president, to Electro Investors, Incorporated of which Butcher is chairman of the board.Electro Investors, Incorporated has as directors, Floyd Odium, ofIndio, nationally known industrialist and financier; his son, Bruce, also of Indio; James Allen of Beverly Hills and Lyle C. Newcomer of Pasadena. In the application, Butcher states that the cost of development of KIVA and the expenses of operation made it necessary to find additional capital to share the burden and to assure completion of the objective, namely, for Valley Telecasting Company to successfully operate a first class television station in an area remote from other serviceand where television programshave become an integral part of the lives of the people. He said too that with the additional capital and strong backing of new principals, some of whom have residence on the fringe of the service area of the station, the accomplishment of the stated objective, assuming approval of the application, seems assured. No changes are contemplated as to management or program service or extension of physical facilities such as the construction of an auxiliary studio for the Imperial Valley at El Centro with a microwave relay connecting the El Centro studio and the main studio-transmitter near Winterhaven.Roger Van Duzer continues asvice-president and general manager of Valley Telecasting Company. Ralph P. Brandt of Yuma, continues as secretary and counsel for KIVA. Floyd Odium is president of Atlas Corporation and James Allen is vice-president of Atlas and president of Electro Investors, Incorporated.
