A meeting has been arranged through the cooperation of the Ukiah Chamber of Commerce and the Ukiah Rotanans with the various forestry officers who will have the matter in charge at the regular noon luncheon of the Ukiah Rotartans Tuesday, May 1.Following this meeting the government and state officials will leave on a tour of investigation through the redwood belt, viewing the proposed locations and state parks with a view of the ultimate establishment of a national forest in the Redwood Empire. This will be on co-ordination with state forestry department.All the chambers of commerce in the district are invited to send representatives as well as farm organizations and a large delegation is expected to turn out from northern Mendocino county.The establishment of a national forest in the Redwood Empire would be one of the greatest attractions to the section possible to conceive.matter was already under investigation by the Benbow Power Co., which has the franchise for this section and that the feasibility of a local power plant to serve the section in lieu of a long power line, which was rather impractical, was being investigated with the idea of its eventual installation.as-r-In^des.The chamber of commerce went on record as favoring an improved maintenance system on the Rockport to Fort Bragg lateral of the Redwood-Shoreline highways, and favor steady improvement of same until taken into the state secondary system.A resolution was passed memoraliz-ing the board of county supervisors in the matter of the formation of a new justice district, to be taken from a portion of the present Fort Bragg and Layton ville districts. The northern part of Mendocino county along the Redwood highway and other points are at present in the Fort Bragg Justice district which necessitates a trip of aminimum of 45 miles from Coolidge Park to a maximum of 53 miles at the northern county line for any traffic violation of or any case that comes up In the Justice court. The district covered by the Laytonville Justice district Is not quite so bad, but this section has so increased in population in recent years that a justice district has become a necessity.A booster dance was announced by the chamber of commerce for the near future, and a tentative date was set for May 12 at the Leggett valley union high school auditorium.Btlclt;ohflt;bv,tiIIntlscll1lt;yhtlt;dFrecnaccIA committee was appointed to investigate the possibilty of obtaining power and light service for this section of the Redwood highway.
