MRS. JAMES DAKERMary A. Graham wa* bom October 11th. 1S33. In Armstrong county. Pennsylvania. and in 1856 she came west and located in Milo township. Delaware county. Iowa. She was united in marriage with Mr. James Daker, on September 20th. 1860. Practicallyall of her life was spent on the farm In Milo township, where she passed away on Sunday evening. April 17th. 1921. Funeral services are being held at the home this (Wednesday) afternoon. Rev. Stanley Howard, pastor of the Ryan Methodist Episcopal church having charge of the services.Mrs. Daker is survived by the following children: Thos. T. Baker, of Lamore. North Dakota; John J. Daker of Groton. South Dakota. Mrs. L. Olm-stead of Dubree. South Dakota; Homer Daker of Walker. Iowa; and Harry Daker and Mrs. Grace Bishop of Milo Township. One daughter. Millie Daker, passed away in 1890. Mr. Daker’s death occurred on the farm in 1873. AH of the children surviving are here to attend the funeral today.Mrs. Daker was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Ryati, and a life member of the Home Missionary Society of the church. Coming to the county in 1856. at a time when the country was thinly settled, and hardships and privations on every hand, she set about to establish a Christian homo in a new country. In this she was eminently successful. When a neighbor was in trouble she was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. Many times did she leave her own home to go to that of a neighbor and nurse to health those who were stricken by disease. She was a woman of kindly nature, and at once endeared herself to those who were fortunate to meet her. She was a truly Christian mother. In earlier life ministering to those, who by the ties of home, had claims upon her. In her declining years she was tenderly cared for by the devoted daughter, Mrs. Grace Bishop, with whom she has made her home for some years.The sons and daughters have the sympathy of their friends in the Borrow that has come to them because of the death of the mother.
