KOOL JAZZ FESTIVAL — June 13, Houston Astrodome. The 10th anniversary Jazz Fest will feature an eight-hour ‘‘Marathon of Soul,’’ featuring Isley Brothers, the Spinners, Jimmy Cliff, the Manhat tans, Johnnie Taylor, Tierra and James Brown. Seating will again be allowed on the floor of the Astrodome as well as in the grandstands. Floor and lower grandstand box seats are priced at $15 and are reserved. Places to go SAN JACINTO BATTLEGROUND — A national land mark and site where Texas independence was won from Mexico. The battleground, a state park of 460 acres, includes San Jacinto Museum of History and San Jacinto Monument, the world’s largest monumen tal column at 570 feet, with an observation deck at the top. The battleground is located off State Highway 225 on Farm Road 134, twenty miles from downtown Houston. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
