SchedulesRey de la TorreRey de la Torre, celebrated classic guitarist, will be heard in recital on Saturday, April 20 at 8:15 in Albright Auditorium, The Lecture-Artist Series will sponsor this concert.Rey de la Torre has toured throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. He has performed on the “Guitar” show for CBS-TV and supplied the entire musical background for the television broadcast of Garcia Lorca's “The House of Bcrnarda Alba.” He has also been a guest on the Jack Paar Show, Today Show, and Camera 3. Among his most distinguished appearances was his performance of a concerto for guitar by Joaquin Rodrigo, Spanish composer, in premieres for the United States with the Cleveland Orchestra.As ap artist Rey de la Torre is in close touch with contemporary musical developments, particularly of the States and Latin America.Julian Orbon, a Cuban composer and recent winner of major Latin-American awards, has written a work for Rey de la Torre which the guitarist has recorded, Other composers, such as Jose Ardevoi and Joaquin. Nm-Culnaell, have composed works for Rey de la Torre which appear oil many ofhis programs.He is also a recording artist of note, whose albums are sold throughout the world. He records on Epic Records and Fontana Records of Europe.Rey de la Torre was born in Tavana, Cuba and began his career in Spain. In 1941, he made his debut in Town Hall, New York.
