By Phil London Sergeant William Katschke of the Army ROTC Staff here at the Univer sity of Richmond will be leaving June SO. He is retiring after twenty years of service in the United States Army. Sergeant Katschke came to the Uni versity in September of 1953 from Ft. George Meade, Maryland. His job here on the Army ROTC Staff was Detachment Sergeant Major in which he kept records on all of the Army ROTC students here at the Univer sity. He worked closely with Miss Mansell, Set. Mefarkind, and cadet officers. His position at Fort Meade was Bat talion Adjt. and he held the rank of First Lt. He now holds the rank of captain in the U. S. Army Reserve. Sergeant Katschke has served in both World War 1 and the Korean conflict. He has seen service in Europe, Africa, Korea and other countries since he entered the Army in 1996. He has won six campaign stars in Korea and the Air Medal with Oakleaf Cluster. Sergeant Katschke has expressed his pleasure in working with the Army ROTG students here and working in the friendly atmosphere which the University has afforded him. We of the University of Richmond along with the Army ROTC Staff wish him the best of luck in the future
