Welch, who was leader of a former nature study group of the association. is a graduate of DePauw and a well known to Greencastle people.IFollowing her work at DePauw. shetook her Master’s degree from theUniversity of Illinois and her PhD. ‘ it Indiana University. In 1938. she 1studied in Europe on a research grant from the American Philosophical Society. She is, at present, engaged in research on the Mosses and Liverworts of Indiana, and on a monograph on the Fontinalncae. As both a student and an enthusiast of j nature lore.
