FLOSSMOOR TO HAVE CLEAN-UPImprovement Association Promotes Big Civic “Scrubbing” For SaturdayVacant lots, parkways, streets and alleys in Flossmoor are due for a grand spring clean-up 011 Saturday, according to plans of the Flossmoor Improvement association, newly formed civic club of the village. April 21, in the afternoon and evening, teams of citizens, Boy and Girl Scout organizations and other groups are to open up a campaign that is to end with the complete rout of dirt and rubbish in all nooks and corners of the village. It is .proposed to start the drive against dirt by assigning teams and trucks to various parts of the village and the groups of citizens in overalls and work clothes will pile all papers, tin cans, milk bottles, weeds, underbrush and the other forms of rubbish that accumulate in a village over the winter months. The rubbish gathered will be hauled to the vacant lot at the corner of Illinois street and Brae Burn road and piled in one great heap. A supreme effoit is to be made to make the heap of waste material the largest ever gathered around here.Big Community BonfireIn the evening at about 7:30 all the wrorkers and their families are to gather around the immense hill of rubbish and the torch is, to be applied. As the bonfire roars the passing of Flossmoor’s winter accumulation of vacant lot rubbish, the ladies of the Flossmoor Improvement association are to serve hot dogs, pink lemonade and other eats” to the big crowd that is to be attracted to the spot. A “Night in Coney Island” will be the theme of the evening’s program around the hill of fire as Flossmoor celebrates the victory over dirt.In connection with the clean-up, the Improvement association is enlisting the aid of every resident of the village for both the afternoon and evening of this Saturday. Notifications of the territories to which the workers will Te assigned are nowr being sent out, it is understood. The co-operation of all Flossmoor residents is being urged in order that Flossmoor may be made into a modern replica of the proverbial Spotless Town.”
