An Tnpe Find Among Mounds Located Near Summer ville—Odd Articles Dug Up. Dowagiac, April 13. — Parties are making excavations In Indian mounds, near Strummerville, under the direction of the Smithsonian institution. They have found one mound about 75 or 80 feet across averaging about 15 feet high. Many bones have been found, possibly of 100 persons, and many of whom were seven feet tall; one skel eton was found which was a man who in life was fully nine feet tall. Copper bodkins, pins made of bones of wolves, tomahawks, hatchets, a highly polished stone pipe, and many other articles have been found. There are about a dozen of these mounds In Cass county, the largest cluster being on the farm of L. B. Wood, of Summerville. Early set tlers tell of the discovery of one mound of a horse shoe shape which evidently was used for a fort.
