Lectures, recitations, etc., arethe order of exercises. The first lecture was delivered on Tuesday evening last by Prof. McGregor, of the Normal Institute, Plattevilie. Others will be delivered by the Rev. G. S. Biscoe, pastor of the Congregational Church, and Dr. Lee of Darlington, respectively, Wednesday and Friday evenings, on educational subjects. The speakers’ subject lst evening was Bob Burns, and the Prof. paid a glowing tribute to the memory of the Scottish genius, and illustrated his gifts as one whom few single lives In the history of man can parai-ell. The lecture lacked a spirit of enthusiasm. The undivided attention of the speaker was taxed in reading his lecture from a carefully prepared manuscript, and the motive force of illustration in clinching a declaration or in rounding an absorbing sentence, the eyes aud hands” were occupied in turning leaves or following the manuscript. The lecture was attentively listened to by a large and appreciative audience.
