The ‘powerful Lubbock Christian College Chaparrals dealt the Sul Ross State Univer sity Lobos: misery Friday and Saturday at Kokernot Field, dropping the Lobos 14-4, 14-9, 6- 3, 7-1. The only Lobo threat during the twin double-header came in Friday’s nightcap. Sul Ross over came a nine-run deficit to tie the score at 9-9 in the sixth inning. The Lobo rally was keyed around the red-hot bat of Sul Ross second baseman Judd Ryan. In the fourth inning, with the lead-off hitter on base, Ryan smashed a homer off the right field scoreboard to cut the LCC lead. In the bottom of the fifth, the Lobo offensive attack caught fire, sending 10 batters to the plate. The rally was a com bination of three hits, four LCC errors and another timely hit from Ryan. But the Chaps came back in their half of the seventh to pick up five runs to save the win. They picked up the winning runs on two hits, two walks, a hit batter and a Lobo error. The Sul Ross team will take on Dallas Baptist College in Friday and Saturday double headers. Friday actions gets underway at $ p.m., and Saturday’s games will begin at 1 p.m.
